The following privacy statement has been developed to provide a clear and concise outline on how and when personal information is collected, used, stored and distributed by Pharmeasy.

 

1. What Information DO we collect?


The nature of the information collected and maintained by Pharmeasy in order to deliver quality products and services to is are as follows:

Personally Identifiable Information - This information is collected for the purpose of confirming your identity against our existing records and for fulfilling your order or request. This information will be collected and confirmed upon subscribing to our services and upon contact with Pharmeasy Customer Service Representatives. Identity checks conducted often comprise of name, date of birth, address and contact telephone number.  As an added security measure you may be requested to provide details of a recent delivery from Pharmeasy or prescription status. 

 

Personal Health Information - Patient profiles are required for particular products to ensure that these products will not cause any potential interactions with other drugs, allergies or health conditions that the you may currently take or have. The information is not supplied to any other party. Patient Profiles are not required for products that we deem do not have a potential for these types of interactions.

Statistical Information - We collect information on web site activity (such as number of users who visit the website, date and time of visits, number of pages viewed, navigation patterns, country of origin and if accessing via another web site the details of that web site) via the use of 'cookies'.  We do not collect or retain personal identifiable information.

2. Information we do NOT collect.


We do not collect information regarding an individual's political, religious, ethnic background or sexual beliefs and/or preferences.

We do not collect personal information about you (such as your name, date of birth, address or e-mail address) from your use of our website.

 

3. Disclosure of users/members information.


In providing a medication management and supply service to our members, Pharmeasy fully protects the confidentiality of your prescriptions, records and other healthcare information. Pharmeasy does not provide information to market research firms or to pharmaceutical companies that identifies individual patients.  Pharmeasy keeps completely confidential the patient specific information it uses in providing its medication management and supply services to its members.

Pharmeasy undertakes not to sell, rent or trade your personal information.

On occasion it may become necessary for us to release personal information including, if we are required to do so to meet statutory obligations, in the event of a confirmed medical emergency, to confirm prescription information with your medical practitioner and where you have consented to the disclosure.

Unless you have instructed us not to do so, personal information may be shared between the related entities of Pharmeasy for the purpose of fulfilling your requirements or improving our services to you. If information is shared between Pharmeasy entities it shall remain confidential.

Pharmeasy's employees, consultants, auditors, legal advisors and specialist third parties may occasionally have reason to access systems containing your information and during such access are required to be under adequate internal supervisory controls. All such persons are subject to duties of confidentiality and non-disclosure.

We may share general high level statistical information about the use of our website with advertisers, content providers, sponsors and other third parties for the purpose of improving our services.

 

4. Children
 
Persons under the age of 18 years are able to join Pharmeasy and use the Pharmeasy service with prior express consent from a parent or legal guardian, and then recommended only under direct supervision.

 

Exceptions to parental or guardian consent may be made for persons 16 years and over where State or Federal legislation warrants the exception, or if the person in question is deemed to be mature enough to act on their own behalf.

The Pharmeasy website and services provided by Pharmeasy are not designed or directed for use by persons under the age of 18 years.

When a family group joins Pharmeasy and that family group contains children under the age of 16, there is an implicit assumption at the time of joining that the primary applicant is authorised to act on behalf of all children under the age of 16 and to have access to their medical records held by Pharmeasy.

A child, upon reaching the age of 16 will be required by Pharmeasy to appoint the primary applicant, or other nominated person, to act or continue to act on their behalf in relation to Pharmeasy and to have access to their medical records held by Pharmeasy. If Pharmeasy cannot obtain this consent, it will be implicitly assumed that the 16 year old is acting on their own behalf.

 

5. Accessing/Updating your information


Pharmeasy makes every endeavour to ensure your information is maintained accurately. However, we understand that as circumstances can change we trust that you will notify us of changes that affect services we provide to you i.e.: contact details, delivery address, consent details, allergies, other medications and health conditions - by contacting us or by directly contacting a Health Account Manager.

Amendments to Prescription medications and dosages must be authorised in writing by a qualified medical practitioner. Refer to our Terms & Conditions for further information.

We will provide you, on request, with details of any information about you, which is held by us, and will make amendments to those records on our computer systems if requested by you in writing. 

 

If at any stage you would like your information removed from our database, we require an email, fax or letter with your full name and identifying information and we will delete the file from our records.

 

6. Choice


On occasion Pharmeasy will provide members with information on special offers and updates about the services we provide. If you decide that you no longer wish to receive these communications you are able to advise us of your choice by either e-mailing us or contacting the Pharmeasy Helpline between 9am-6pm, Monday – Friday EST/EDST by calling 1300 765 888.

You may choose to allow a spouse, carer or other person nominated by you, authority to access your records or to act on your behalf. Changes to your 'consent' must be authorised by you in writing. Pharmeasy will be entitled to assume that consent has been given where a carer has provided satisfactory information regarding their relationship with the member and the carer has signed the carer consent required by Pharmeasy.

 

 

7. Security of your information


Pharmeasy is committed to keeping secure the data you provide us and we take all reasonable precautions to protect your personally identifiable information from loss, misuse or alteration.

Pharmeasy has employed the latest advances in commercially available technology to ensure maximum system and data security, including 128-bit data encryption and firewalls. Pharmeasy's computing environment is continually monitored for operational integrity. As such our computing environment is subject to applicable corporate Security Policies and practices, which are reviewed by regularly, scheduled audits.

It is Pharmeasy's policy that employees obtain and maintain Privacy training in dealing with your information.  Employees are bound by Pharmeasy's 'Internal Privacy Policy' and possible breaches of the Privacy Policy are subject to internal investigation and subsequent disciplinary action.  Regular audits are conducted to ensure compliance with the policy and associated processes.

 

8. Changes to the Privacy Policy


We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time at our discretion and without notice. If any such changes are made, we will make all reasonable efforts to bring those changes to your attention. An updated version of the Privacy Policy will be published and maintained on the Pharmeasy website. We encourage you to review the Privacy Policy on a regular basis to ensure you remain aware of the data we collect, how we use it and the circumstances under which we disclose information.

 

9. Links to other Sites


The Pharmeasy website may contain links to other websites that are not affiliated or associated with Pharmeasy. Please be advised that these sites may be owned or developed by other people or entities over which Pharmeasy has no control. This Privacy Policy only applies to areas of the website under Pharmeasy's control.

Pharmeasy actively encourages users to familiarise themselves with the Privacy Policies of each website which collects information about the user. Also, as a matter of course, users should always beware of the information they are providing and the purposes for which it may be used.

 

10. Complaints


Pharmeasy takes your complaints seriously. We will listen to your complaint and respond to you quickly.

The Pharmeasy Privacy Manager will deal with any complaint concerning your privacy. This staff member can also explain the procedure to lodge a formal complaint.

The Pharmeasy Privacy Manager will endeavour to resolve any privacy issue in the shortest timeframe and explain how the matter will be rectified in the future.

To make a complaint:

  • Contact us by telephone on 1300 765 888 between 9am-6pm, Monday – Friday EST/EDST
  • We expect that the person you first speak to will resolve the problem for you at the time
  • If the complaint cannot be resolved by this person you will be referred to the Pharmeasy Privacy Manager who will be responsible for resolving your complaint

If you are still not satisfied, you can appeal in writing to the Chief Executive Officer who will review the decision and reply a soon as possible and within 28 days.

External appeals
If you are unhappy with the outcome of your complaint or you feel that your complaint has not been dealt with satisfactorily, there is an avenue for external review.

12. Terminology

 

Consent - Authority provided by the service user to Pharmeasy in writing.

Cookies - A 'cookie' is a packet of information that allows the server (the computer that houses the web site) to identify and interact more effectively with your computer. A cookie assigns a unique identification number, and a new cookie is assigned each time you use our web site. Cookies do not identify individual users, although they do identify browser types and Internet Service Provider (ISP). Disclosure - Information released to third parties.

Non-Personally Identifiable Information - Any data element or collection of data elements that, by itself, cannot be associated with a particular individual.

Personal Information - Information about an individual who can be identified or whose identity can be reasonably ascertained from the information.
